This new PL1 is heading out into the world today
I really enjoy getting to do Tobacco Burst PL1s.
This one is ready for it’s new home… a 000-12 with a Bear Claw Sitka top and Bocote back and sides.
I got a chance to hang out with Justin Johnson while he was in town over the weekend headlining the Blues and Brews festival. It’s always fun to sit on the other side of one of my gits, especially in the hands of such a great player.
What a great combo of woods! Figured Sapele, striped Cedar and Ebony with great blonde streaks.
I’m loving how this Figured Sapele is looking after just a few coats of oil.
New rosette in the works for another 000 size 12 String. This one also has a Bear Claw Sitka top but will have Bocote back and sides.
Its always fun to fit all the parts and pieces and string up a git before I take it apart for final sanding before finish.
The one on the left is fitted with a mini humbucker from made by Mule Resonator Guitars. I build a carriage to hold the pickup along with adding a dial volume pot. It sounds sweet!
Now, I’m ready to start focusing on the neck for this figured Sapele PL1.
